Freshman Swimmeres Gain Academic Honors

Colorado Springs, Co - Not only does Stanford University produce outstanding swimmers, but also outstanding students in the classroom. This year's freshman class is no exception.

Three Cardinal freshman have been named to the 2004-2005 Scholastic All-American Team by USA Swimming. The Scholastic All-America team is comprised of high school student-athletes who have compiled a grade point average (gpa) of 3.5 or higher, and have competed in an individual event in several national championships including the 2005 World and WUG Trials, and the 2005 Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals).

The Cardinal freshmen listed include Scott Lathrope (Back/IM, Orinda, Ca), John McCallen (Free/Back, Bellingham, Wa) and Paul Zaich (Breast/IM, Irvine, Ca).™
