Softball Looking Good in Fall Scrimmages

Oct. 25, 2005

TEMPE, Ariz. -

Entering tonight's mini-tournament with Mesa Community College and Central Arizona, the ASU Softball team has put up impressive numbers in their first eight scrimmage games.

New Head Coach Clint Myers may have an offensive juggernaut on his hands, as the Sun Devils have averaged almost seven runs per game, while giving up only five runs total. The team has flexed their muscles, belting 10 home runs, led by Sharee Zaleski's three. Zaleski also leads the team with 11 RBI.

On the mound, Katie Burkhart, Ashley Werschky and Desiree Serrano have been almost unhittable. Burkhart already has a perfect game to her credit, while Werschky hasn't allowed an earned run in her nine innings pitched. Serrano, third all-time on ASU's career strikeout list, has K'd 23 batters in 21 innings.

ASU Softball is also forming a booster club, the Diamond Devil's Club. For more information, sign up at the games tonight, or at Alumni Night on Friday, October 28th.
