ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Cal's women's swimming and diving team picked up its third win of the season, defeating Michigan 167-128 in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Thursday. The Bears (3-0) took first in 11 of the 16 events, led by sophomore Emily Silver's three individual wins. Senior Helen Silver and sophomore Leann Toomey each won two individual events.

Emily Silver won the 200-yard free (1:49.27), the 100 free (50.96) and the 50 free (23.44), while her sister Helen placed first in the 100 back (55.92) and 200 back (1:59.27). Toomey finished first in the 100 fly (55.59) and 200 fly (2:01.82). All three of Emily Silver's and both of Helen Silver's marks are NCAA B qualifying times.

Other individual winners were junior Annie Babicz (200 breast, 2:20.01), junior Erin Reilly (500 free, 4:55.30) and freshman Jessica Hardy (100 breast, 1:01.33). Hardy set a world record in the 100 breast at the 2005 World Championships. Her time on Thursday automatically qualified her for the 2006 NCAA Championships.

Toomey, Emily Silver, Helen Silver and Hardy swam on the first-place 200 medley relay team, clocking a 1:43.03.

Cal continues its road trip when the Bears visit Notre Dame in dual meet action Friday. Results will be available on after the meet.
