USC Defeats Oregon, 3-1, For Road Victory

EUGENE, Ore. -- Senior Bibiana Candelas had a game-high 21 kills Thursday as the No. 16 USC Women of Troy defeated the Oregon Ducks, 3-1 (30-20, 28-30, 30-15, 30-24), in Pac-10 Conference action. USC continues a torrid streak where the team has won eight of its last nine matches.
The Women of Troy forced the Ducks into a .098 hitting night, including a minus .125 in a dominating third game. USC improved to 12-7 overall and 8-3 in the conference while Oregon falls to 11-12 on the season, 1-11 in conference. It was USC's 31st straight victory over Oregon.
Sophomore Katelyn Bishop had a career-high 12 kills for the Women of Troy while Staci Venski and Diane Copenhagen had 14 kills each. Junior libero Debora Seilhamer, who leads the nation in digs per game, had 27 digs on Thursday.
Mira Djuric led the Ducks with 13 kills while Kelly Russell hit .214 (12-3-42).
USC travels to Oregon State on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest and a win by the Women of Troy would give head coach Mick Haley his 900th career win.
