Women Of Troy Help Mick Haley Reach Coaching Milestone

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Senior middle blocker Bibiana Candelas tied her career high with 26 kills Friday as the No. 16 USC Women of Troy defeated the Oregon State Beavers, 3-1 (30-16, 28-30, 30-23, 30-18), in Pac-10 Conference women's volleyball action. With the victory, USC head coach Mick Haley earned his 900th career collegiate win.
USC improved to 13-7 on the season and 9-3 in conference play as the Women of Troy have won nine of their last 10 matches. Oregon State falls to 8-11 overall and 4-9 in Pac-10 play. USC has won 18 straight matches against Oregon State.
Candelas hit .411 in the match (26-3-56), adding 10 digs, two assists, two service aces and four block assists. Staci Venski chipped in 14 kills while junior libero Debora Seilhamer had 28 digs for a 7.00 dpg average.
Brittany Cahoon led the Beavers with 15 kills.
USC dominated with a 24-12 lead in the first game at one point before closing out the win. The Women of Troy rallied from a 28-26 deficit to tie the game, but an Abby Windell kill and service ace by Desma Stovall earned the Beavers' lone game victory.
The Women of Troy closed out the match with two solid games, limiting the Beavers to an .086 and .000 hitting clip in games three and four, respectively.
USC returns home to host No. 2 Washington on Friday (Nov. 10) at 7 p.m. and Washington State on Saturday (Nov. 11) at 6 p.m. Both matches will be played at the Lyon Center.
