Bruin Divers Head to Trojan Diving Invitational This Weekend
Nov. 9, 2005
The UCLA divers will head crosstown to USC for the first big test of the season as they compete at the Trojan Diving Invitational Friday, Nov. 11 to Saturday, Nov. 12. All of Coach Tom Stebbins' divers will compete aside from senior Amanda Blong, who will redshirt the 2005-06 season.
'This meet will be a great test for us,' said Stebbins. 'Most of the elite Zone E teams will be there along with Texas and Nebraska. We will have a very clear idea of what we will need to do going into the second half of the season to make the improvements necessary to be successful come February and March.'
Each diver will compete on the one-meter and three-meter boards, while junior Sara Clark and freshmen Tess Schofield and Brittany Hill will compete on the platform. Competition begins on Friday with 3M at 10:00 am, followed by 1M. Platform competition will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am.
This is the first meet for all but one of the divers. Clark competed at the SMU Invitational in Dallas, TX in October and placed third on 3M and fifth on 1M.
