WALNUT CREEK, CALIF. - Michael Wilson of California has been named Pacific-10 Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for October, it was announced today by the Pac-10 office. On Nov. 1, Wilson won the individual title and helped the Golden Bears to a third-place finish at the inaugural CordeValle Collegiate, played at CordeValle Country Club in San Martin, Calif.

Wilson, who redshirted last season and is the only returning member of the Golden Bears' 2004 NCAA championship squad, shot a 10-under three-round score of 206 (69, 70, 67) at the CordeValle Collegiate, outpacing UCLA's Erik Flores and Arizona's Henry Liaw by six strokes (212). Wilson shot a 30 on the back nine of his final round, including four birdies and an eagle on the par five 15th hole.

As a team, Cal finished tied for third with Arkansas, shooting a three-round score of 859 (297, 282, 280, -5), trailing only host UCLA's 849 (284, 281, 284, -15) and Northwestern's 855 (291, 277, 287, -9). Wilson is the first Bear to capture an individual tournament title since Jeff Hood won the 2003 Mid-Pines Intercollegiate, Sept. 9, 2003 in Southern Pines, North Carolina. This past March, Wilson, the 2003 Pac-10 Co-Freshman of the Year, won the San Francisco City Championship at Harding Park.

The CordeValle Collegiate concluded the Bears' 2005 fall season. Wilson also helped lead Cal to the team-title at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Oct. 10-11 at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
