USC Hosting Trojan Diving Invitational
Nov. 10, 2005
The USC men's and women's diving teams, led by senior All-American Blythe Hartley, kick off their competition schedule by hosting the 2005 Trojan Diving Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 11-12) at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC will join Pac-10 foes UCLA, Stanford and Arizona as well as Air Force, Nebraska and New Mexico in the two-day meet.
Hartley, the defending NCAA 3-meter champion who also holds titles in the 1-meter and platform, leads the Women of Troy. She won a gold medal on 1-meter at the 2005 World Championships a year after earning a bronze at the 2004 Olympics.
For the men, junior Kenny Jenkins figures to be USC's top point-scorer. Jenkins was a three-time finalist at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships and barely missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Junior teammate Michael Hilde is a two-time NCAA diver, but will miss the 2005-2006 season recovering from a shoulder injury. Jenkins is joined by freshman Koltin Stratiner.
Men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter open the competition at 10 a.m. on Friday with finals starting at 11:45. Prelims for women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter begin at 2 p.m. with finals at 3:45 p.m.
Saturday's schedule features men's and women's platform at 11 a.m.
Admission is free.
