Football Trio Named To Academic All-District Team

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State senior tight end Troy Bienemann, sophomore quarterback Alex Brink and senior offensive lineman Riley Fitt-Chappell have been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII first team, it was announced Thursday.

Bienemann, a communication and finance major, was selected to the first team for the third straight season on the strength of his 3.73 cumulative grade point average and his 21 receptions for 259 yards and two touchdowns this season. The Santa Clara, Calif., native also serves as the long snapper on punts.

Brink earned his first appearance on the Academic All-District VIII first team with a 3.56 grade point average as a sport management major. A native of Eugene, Ore., Brink has started all nine games for the Cougars this season, throwing for 2,325 yards and 19 touchdowns, including a school-record 515 yards of total offense against Oregon State.

Fitt-Chappell, an Eagle River, Alaska, native, carries a 3.56 cumulative grade point average in management information systems. He has played in all nine games this season on the offensive line and handles the deep snap on field goals. The Cougar trio are among nine Pacific-10 representative on the first team, and the only Pac-10 school with more than two.
