Troy Advances To Second Round Of Hooters Match Play Championship

USC's women's golf team advanced past the first round of the Hooters Women's Match Play Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., but play was halted due to darkness against second-round opponent Arizona State on Friday (Nov. 11).

The competition will resume Saturday morning.

The Women of Troy defeated Tulane, 4-1, in the opening round, earning a spot against the Sun Devils.

Senior Irene Cho defeated Mary Ellen Jacobs, 6 and 5, junior Veronica Felibert defeated Kasi Lee, 2 and 1, sophomore Dewi-Claire Schreefel downed Alison Walshe, 5 and 4, and junior Catalina Marin beat Jessica Issler, 4 and 3. Senior Seiko Onoue lost to Liliana Alvarez, 4 and 2.

Cho and Marin are leading midway through the second round against ASU while Felibert and senior Allison Schauppner trail. Schreefel is tied with her opponent.
