LOS ANGELES -- Senior Bibiana Candelas had 19 kills Saturday as the No. 15 USC Women of Troy swept the Washington State Cougars, 3-0 (30-22, 30-28, 30-25), in Pac-10 Conference action at the Lyon Center. USC junior libero Debora Seilhamer had 29 digs on the evening, surpassing her previous school record of 27 digs (Oct. 21 vs. Arizona State) in a three-game match.
USC improves to 14-8 overall and 10-4 in Pac-10 play while Washington State falls to 8-20 on the season and 1-14 in conference.
Sophomore Diane Copenhagen had 11 kills and 18 digs for the Women of Troy while Brittany Johnson led the Cougars with 11 kills.
The Women of Troy faced a feisty Cougar squad, especially in the first game. Down 15-9, Andrea McBride started a 9-1 run for USC on the way to the game victory.
In game two, USC looked to close out the win at 29-25, but WSU scored three straight times with two kills coming from Natalia Owens. Copenhagen used a kill to lock out the rally as USC took the 2-0 lead in the match.
The Cougars jumped out to the lead again in game three, but the Women of Troy pulled away with a 5-1 run to take the 25-21 advantage. A service error by WSU wrapped up the sweep for USC.
The Women of Troy travels to Arizona next Friday (Nov. 18) for a 6 p.m. match that will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net on a delayed basis. USC's final regular season road match takes place on Saturday (Nov. 19) at Arizona State in a 7 p.m. match.
