Tulane Eliminates UW Golfers at Match Play Championships

Howey-in-the-Hills, FL - The Washington women's golf team finished 11th at the 16-team Collegiate Match Play Championships after losing in the semifinals of the consolation bracket. Tulane ended the Huskies' fall season with a 3-2-0 victory Saturday at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
The Huskies lost their opening round match Friday to Michigan State 3-1-1 to fall into the consolation bracket. The eighth-seeded Huskies downed UC Irvine 4-1-0 on Saturday morning to advance to the semifinals.
Sung Ea Lee and Amber Prange picked up Washington's only wins against the Green Wave in the match play format. Liliana Alvarez downed Paige Mackenzie 1-up to hand Mackenzie her only loss in three matches. Mackenzie defeated UCI's Carling Cho 5 and 3 to lead the Huskies' first win in consolation play and defeated Michigan State's Mandi McConnell 5 and 4 in her first match.
Arizona State will face Purdue in Sunday's final.
