Stanford Men Defeat Arizona For Third At Match Play Championships

Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. - The Stanford men's golf team beat Arizona in the third-place match Sunday at the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

Fifteen-seeded Stanford defeated 13th-seeded Arizona, 3-1-1. The match was close throughout, as three of the five singles matches were 1-up decisions.

Stanford pulled out a halve on the final hole of the No.5 singles match and earned a win in the final two holes of the No. 2 singles match.

Top-seeded Georgia won the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship with a 3-2-0 win over Georgia Tech. The event was contested at Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort.
