Eight Bruins Receive Honors From Top Drawer Soccer

Eight UCLA men's soccer players were honored by Top Drawer Soccer in the internet site's year-end awards. Six players were named to the National Team of the Season, while two freshmen were selected to the All-Rookie Team.

Earning first-team acclaim on the Team of the Season were goalkeeper Eric Reed, defender Marvell Wynne and forward Kamani Hill. Reed has ranked amongst the nation's leaders in goals against average all season and currently has a 0.46 GAA with 12 solo shutouts. He posted eight shutouts and a 0.19 GAA in 10 Pac-10 Conference games. Wynne, who is a candidate for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, led a UCLA defense to 14 shutouts, second-most in school history. Hill leads the Bruins in all offensive categories with seven goals, eight assists and 22 points. He scored five of his seven goals against Pac-10 opponents, with three of the five goals being game-winners.

Defender Jordan Harvey was named to the second team, midfielder Patrick Ianni to the third team, and defender Brandon Owens to the fourth team.

Freshman defender Brad Rusin became the fourth Bruin defender honored when he was selected to the All-Rookie Team. He was joined by midfielder Sal Zizzo.

The Bruins open NCAA Tournament play on Tuesday, Nov. 22 with a second round game against the winner of the SMU/San Francisco game. The game will take place at 7 pm on Frank W. Marshall Field at Drake Stadium. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students/youth.
