Nov. 15, 2005
Walnut Creek, Calif. -- Former Husky gymnast Molly Seaman was named the 2005 female recipient of the Cooper Tires/Pac-10 Leadership Award. The award carries with it a $1,500 scholarship for postgraduate study and is designed to recognize student-athletes who have served on their institutional Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) and demonstrated leadership.
The Pac-10 Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which is composed of representatives from each member institution, selects the winners of the award each year from nominations submitted by each campus SAAC. The winners will are recognized at the Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament in March.
Seaman, who graduated in June 2005, was a zoology major and three-time First-Team Pac-10 All-Academic Team member. She finished her career third all-time on the Husky list with nine individual titles on the beam. Outside of the gym, Seaman was the president of the Washington Student-Athlete Advisory Council (WSAAC) as a senior.
