Future Bruin Alicia Sacramone Selected To World Championship Team

Future Bruin Alicia Sacramone has been selected to compete for the U.S. at the 2005 World Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne, Australia, Nov. 21-27.
Sacramone will compete in her first World Championships, along with U.S. teammates Nastia Liukin, Jana Bieger and reigning World uneven bars co-champion Chellsie Memmel. Sacramone, the 2005 U.S. vault and floor champion, has had impressive international results, winning gold on vault and floor at the 2005 Pan Am Championships, as well as vault at the 2005 American Cup, 2004 World Cup Finals and the 2004 Pacific Alliance.
The format for this year's World Championships is an all-around and individual event competition. Qualification rounds determine advancement to the all-around and apparatus finals. The Top 24 compete in the all-around finals on Nov. 24-25. For the individual events, the top eight on each apparatus from the qualification rounds advance to the finals on Nov. 26-27.
World Championship Sports Network (WCSN.com) will offer a streaming internet broadcast for a nominal fee. UCLA sophomore gymnast and 2000 U.S. Olympian Tasha Schwikert will make her broadcast debut, commentating on the event from the WCSN studio in Los Angeles, along with fellow Olympian Blaine Wilson.
