UCLA Gymnastics Signs Anna Li To National Letter-Of-Intent

Senior international elite gymnast Anna Li has signed a national letter-of-intent to compete at UCLA for the 2007 season. She will join Alicia Sacramone, Brittani McCullough and Ashley Jenkins, who all signed last week.
Like her fellow signees, Li qualified for the 2005 U.S. Championships, placing 16th in the all-around. She also qualified for the 2004 U.S. Championships and placed 23rd. At the Level 10 National Championships in 2004, she placed second in the all-around and bars and first on beam in the Junior C Division. In 2003, she won the all-around, uneven bars and balance beam titles at the U.S. Challenge. Also that year, she placed seventh in the all-around and first on beam at the Level 10 Nationals (Junior B).
Li, who trains at the Aerial Gymnastics Club and attends Waubonsie Valley High in Aurora, IL, comes from an accomplished gymnastics family. Her parents were Olympic medalists for China in 1984. Her father, Yuejiu Li, won team silver at the Olympics in Pauley Pavilion and was China's first world champion on floor in 1981. Her mother, Jiani Wu, won Olympic team bronze in 1984 and was the 1981 World beam bronze medalist.
