Nov. 19, 2005

Los Angeles - Junior left-handed pitcher Brian Schroeder threw 7.2 innings while celebrating his 21st birthday, and the Blue Team took advantage of five Gold Team errors to earn a decisive Game 5 victory, 8-5, and win the Blue-Gold Series 3-2.

Senior Brett McMillan led the Blue Team with two hits including a double and two RBI.

The Blue Team turned two double plays and stole three bases to jump out to an 8-1 lead. Schroeder tired in the eighth, and after junior Hector Ambriz hit a two run home run, the Gold Team had cut the Blue lead to 8-5.

Freshman Andy Suiter came on to retire junior Anthony Norman and earn his second save of the series.

Sophomore Mike Metzger added a solo homerun for the Gold Team.

Senior outfielder Chris Jensen earned MVP honors, after hitting .533 (8-15) with an on base percentage of .650 in the five-game series.
