EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Maarty Leunen scored 15 points and Ivan Johnson added 14 to lead Oregon to an 80-55 win over Bowie State in the Hispanic College Fund Classic at McArthur Court on Monday.
Leunen had only two points in the first half, but the Oregon native scored the Ducks' first eight points of the second half on a layup and two 3-pointers. The forward chipped in with seven rebounds.
Johnson scored 10 of his points in the second half, and went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. As a team, the Ducks missed only one of their 26 attempts from the foul line.
The Ducks (2-0) face Pacific on Tuesday in the last day of the three-day event. The Tigers beat Savannah State 82-37 earlier Monday.
Bowie State was led by Derick Payne's 21 points. Thomas Hawkins added 14 for the Division II Bulldogs (2-2), who stayed with the Ducks for much of the first half.
Oregon led 20-18 with 8:30 left in the opening half. Adam Zahn's dunk then started a 17-8 run that lifted the Ducks to a 37-26 lead at the break.
A dunk by Payne about five minutes into the second half made it 47-35, but the Ducks gained firm control with an ensuing 22-6 run that made it 69-41 with 7:23 left. Johnson scored eight of his points during that stretch.
Aaron Brooks and Malik Hairston also reached double figures for the Ducks, who shot 43 percent from the field and outrebounded Bowie State 46-20.
