Reggie Bush Earns National, Pac-10 Player Of The Week Honors
Nov. 21, 2005
USC junior tailback Reggie Bush was named The Sporting News National Player of the Week, Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week, Master Coaches Survey National Offensive Player of the Week and Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week following his performance against Fresno State.
It's the third Pac-10 Player of the Week honor this season for Bush, as he was previously recognized for his efforts against Oregon and Notre Dame, and the second time he was honored by The Sporting News (also Notre Dame) and The Master Coaches Survey (also Washington, as Special Teams Player).
Bush had a Pac-10 record 513 all-purpose yards against Fresno State (the second most in NCAA history), including 294 rushing yards (the second most in USC history) on a career-high 23 carries with a pair of long touchdown runs (a 45-yard burst and an amazing 50-yard cutback jaunt). He added 135 yards on 7 kickoffs (both career bests), 68 yards on 3 receptions and a 16-yard punt return. In all, he had 10 plays of 20-plus yards, including 5 of 35-plus yards.
Two other Trojans--quarterback Matt Leinart and tailback LenDale White--have earned Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors in 2005.
