Trojans Fall To Golden Eagles At Great Alaska Shootout, 68-48

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Caleb Green had 19 points and 10 rebounds as Oral Roberts beat USC 68-48 Wednesday night in the first round of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

The Golden Eagles (1-1) never trailed, leading by as many as 22 points and leaving Tim Floyd still looking for his first win as coach of the Trojans (0-2).

Oral Roberts dominated USC inside, with many of their points coming from second-chance shots and by overpowering the boards on both offense and defense.

Green and Larry Owens accounted for 19 of Oral Roberts' 45 rebounds.

USC had 25 rebounds and shot 20-for-56 from the floor.

The Trojans sent Oral Roberts to the line throughout the game, as the Golden Eagles went 16-for-24 in free throws. USC, on the other hand, was just 3-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Nick Young led USC in scoring with 13 points and Gabe Pruitt added 11.

Ken Tutt scored 13 and Owens added 10 for the Golden Eagles.

Oral Roberts led 41-23 at the half, breaking the game open with an 11-0 run near the end of the first half.

The Golden Eagles on Friday will play the winner of the Marquette-Eastern Washington. The Trojans will play the loser.
