Kristin Richards Earns National And Pac-10 Player Of The Week Honors

Colorado Springs, Co - Kristin Richards, a junior outside hitter on the nationally-ranked Stanford women's volleyball team, has been named the AVCA National and Pac-10 Player of the Week.

Richards, who leads the team in kills (499) and is second in digs (381) led the Cardinal to two victories at nationally-ranked UCLA and USC last weekend. Richards tallied 66 kills and 38 digs in the two matches. Against the Trojans, Richards tallied a career-high 35 kills along with 22 digs. Against the Bruins, Richards chalked up a then career-high 31 kills along with 16 digs.

Richards will lead the Cardinal this week when Stanford hosts the first and second rounds of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament (Dec. 2-3) at Maples Pavilion. Stanford will face Nevada on Friday at 7 p.m. At 5 p.m., Santa Clara plays Sacramento State.

Stanford will also host the NCAA Palo Alto Regional on Dec. 9-10.

Richards is the seventh Cardinal to receive the national honor for a total of nine certificates. This is the first weekly Pac-10 honor for Richards and Stanford's 55th Player of the Week honor all-time. ™™
