Volleyball's Margie Giordano Earns Pac-10 All-Freshman Team Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State freshman outside hitter Margie Giordano (Glendale, Ariz.) has been named to the 2005 Pac-10 All-Freshman team, the conference announced today. In addition, junior outside hitter Nicole Morton and sophomore libero Sydney Donahue earned All Pac-10 honorable mentions.

Giordano, from Mountain Ridge HS, had an outstanding freshman year, recording 235 kills, good for second on the team. She was also second on the team with 28 service aces and 236 digs.

Morton, from Fallbrook, Calif., led the Sun Devils in kills with 300, averaging 3.57 per game. Donahue, from Manhattan Beach, Calif., had a record-setting year for the Sun Devils. She set the school record for digs in a season (628) and digs per game average (6.41). Donahue was named to the All-Freshman team last season.

The Sun Devils, who finished the year 8-20 overall and 3-15 in the conference, return all but two players from this year's squad next season.
