John Spini Signs Paris Barnum To National Letter Of Intent

Nov. 30, 2005

Arizona State University's women's gymnastics head coach John Spini announced Wednesday that Paris Barnum of Natchitoches, La., has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete and study for the Sun Devils, beginning in 2006.

Barnum attends Spring Creek Academy where she has a grade-point average of 3.73. She moved to Plano, Texas from Louisiana four years ago to train at the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA). She was the 2000 Louisiana State All-Around Champion. Nationally, she was the 2002 Balance Beam Champion and in 2004 placed 17th in the All-Around.

'Paris is extremely talented and sharp,' says Spini, who is in his 26th season. 'While she has no form deduction, she still needs to work on her skills. She does not have a weak event, but we believe she will excel at the vault and beam. She loves ASU and jumped at the chance to come here. We feel that she will be very successful here.'
