The Trojans (3-2) forced 11 steals and shot 57.6 percent in winning their third consecutive game.
David Misko scored nine points for the Highlanders (0-4), who shot 33.3 percent and committed 24 turnovers. Larry Cunningham and Joey Knox added eight points each.
Both teams were tied at 10 when Stewart scored six points in a 9-0 spurt that put USC ahead 19-10 with 11:27 left in the first half.
Riverside narrowed the deficit to 19-14, but the Trojans scored the next 21 points to build a 40-14 advantage with 3:28 left in the half.
Young scored nine points and Stewart added eight during that run, as the Highlanders failed to score for a span of 7:23. The Trojans also held Riverside without a point for 5:03 during the second half.
