Cougars Conclude Second Day Of Competition At 2005 U.S. Open

AUBURN, Ala. - Washington State's 400 medley relay team earned the best Cougar finish of the day as the second day of races wrapped up at the 2005 U.S. Open.

Afton Pickett, Monika Povilonyte, Bryn Mooney and Jamie MacLeod posted a time of 4:24.12, earning a fifth place finish in the relay event.

Four Cougars swam in the first session event preliminaries with Pickett competing in the 100 backstroke (1:07.07), Erin McCleave swimming in both the 100 backstroke (1:08.65) and 200 freestyle (2:11.78), Mooney racing in the 100 butterfly (1:05.79) and Kayli Changstrom taking part in the 400 individual medley (5:08.27).

The 2005 U.S. Open concludes Saturday, Dec.3 with the 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 800 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay events.
