Former Stanford Swimmer Tara Kirk Wins 100 Breast At U.S. Open

Auburn, Alabama - Former Stanford swimmer Tara Kirk set a new U.S. Open record on her way to victory in the 100 meter breast stroke on the first day of the 2005 U.S. Open at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center. Kirk clocked in with a time of 1:07.36 that was the fourth-fastest of her career to outrace 2000 Olympic gold medalist Megan Jendrick, who finished second in 1:08.18.

The three-day meet continues on Friday and Saturday.
