Between The Bars
Dec. 7, 2005
Since I have been here at UCLA, I have literally had the best time of my life. From the moment I got here, I felt instantly comfortable with the team, which made the transition to college so much easier, especially since I am from Chicago and the only freshman from out of California.
When we reported on September 7th, we jumped right into training. Pre-season strength and conditioning was the hardest conditioning I have ever done in my life, but it was fun at the same time because we were all doing it together as a team. This differed so much from elite gymnastics simply because of the whole 'team thing'. I love it! I have made great friends, and I have had such a great time attending the other sporting events. School is hard, but it is what I expected, and I am doing a lot better than I thought I would my first college quarter.
Our season starts in less than a month, and I can't wait. I can't even remember the last time I looked forward to competing so much. I am looking forward to not only competing my routines, but experiencing what it's like to compete for UCLA as a TEAM. I am also excited about competing for our fans, our Bruin Den, and our football 'groupies'.
It has been awesome to be a part of something as incredible as our team and to witness how our team has come together this year in the three short months we've been together. We have great potential and are training to bring home another team national championship.
