Dec. 7, 2005
SEATTLE- FSN Northwest and the University of Washington today announced that the network will air the Husky women's volleyball regional semifinal game in a same-day delayed broadcast on Friday, December 9th, at 9 pm. The third-ranked Huskies (28-1) will take on the 14th-seeded Purdue Boilermakers (25-8) with Cara Capuano and Holly McPeak calling the action.
Washington swept their first and second round opponents - Siena and Colorado State - and look to continue their quest for a national title against Purdue. UW leads the all-time series with the Boilermakers 3-1 and the semifinal match-up marks their first meeting of the season.
Purdue took down Virginia Commonwealth and the College of Charleston in their first and second round match-ups to advance to the regional semifinal.
This is the Huskies' third-straight Sweet 16 appearance and the Boilermaker's first since the tournament expanded to a 64-team format in 1998. The game will be played in College Station, Texas, on the campus of Texas A&M at 5 pm Pacific Time.
Should Washington advance to the Regional Championship on Dec. 10, the Huskies would take on the winner of the Notre Dame/ Wisconsin match at 3 pm PT. That match would air tape delayed on ESPNU at 10 pm
