Men's Hoops Hosts Utah Valley State At 1 p.m. Saturday.

SUN DEVIL DATA: The Arizona State University men's basketball team (4-1) plays host to the Utah Valley State Wolverines on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at Ned Wulk Court/Wells Fargo Arena. ASU then makes a trip to Iowa on Sat., Dec. 17, for a 7 p.m CT tip against the 14th-ranked Hawkeyes. The Sun Devils are playing a 10-man rotation with six returners and four newcomers seeing action, although Serge Angounou missed the Minnesota game with a bone bruise on his left knee. Nine players are averaging at least 10 minutes per game and eight players are averaging at least six points per game, as ASU is using balanced scoring to make up for Ike Diogu's 22.6 points per game last year, which was tied for fifth in the nation. After its game against Minnesota on Monday, ASU ranked second in the nation, shooting 46.8 percent from the three-point stripe and was second in the Pac-10 (27th in the nation) in free throw shooting at 75.2 percent.

The UPS Store and Arizona State University Athletics are teaming up to bring holiday cheer to area children. Fans are encouraged to bring toys to the ASU men's basketball game vs. Utah Valley State this Saturday, December 10 at 1 p.m. or the ASU women's basketball game vs. the University of Texas-San Antonio on Monday, December 19 at 6:30 p.m. Fans who donate toys will receive two free upper level tickets to that evenings men's basketball game or two free tickets to that evening's women's basketball game. The UPS Store will collect the unwrapped toys at both the east and the west main entrances of Wells Fargo Area.

LOGGING MINUTES: Kevin Kruger, who has made 153-of-189 (.809) free throws in his 64-game career, posted a career-high 27 points against Minnesota Monday night in the 85-79 overtime loss. He also leads the Pac-10 in steals per game at 3.0. He has 15 steals on the year after notching 46 in the first 59 games of his career. On the year, he is averaging 39.4 minutes per game.

OTHER KRUEGER: Junior Bryson Krueger has been ASU's second-leading scorer through the first five games, as the wing is averaging 16.8 points, including a career-high 27 against North Texas. After posting double-digits in nine games and scoring at least 20 points in two games last year, Krueger has been in double figures in four games and has two 20-point games. He is shooting 28-of-50 (.560) from the field, 10-of-17 (.588) from the three-point stripe and is 18-of-22 (.818) from the free throw line, as his free throw attempts is a notable figure as he went to the line just 28 times all of last year. In his 36-game career, he is 50-of-109 (.459) from the three-point stripe.

WELCOME ADDITION: Junior college transfer Antwi Atuahene is off to a solid start, as the sophomore has come off the bench to average 9.6 points, 4.0 boards and 3.6 assists in 22.2 minutes per game. He is shooting 18-of-29 (.621) from the floor and has notched double-digits in his past three games, averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

QUICK NOTES FROM FIRST FIVE GAMES: ASU is shooting 75.2 percent from the free throw line (118-of-157)...Craig Austin's 21 points vs. Southern Utah not only was a career-high, it was four more points than he scored all of last season. The sophomore scored 17 points in 17 games last year. He is averaging 9.0 points and 4.0 rebounds...Tyrone Jackson is averaging 25.6 minutes this year after averaging 15.1 minutes per contest last year...ASU tied the school record for three-point percentage by hitting 8-of-11 (.742) against North Texas, led by Bryson Krueger who was perfect in five attempts...ASU will try and go 5-1 for just the third time in the past 11 years. Since the 1995-96 season, ASU has gone 5-1 in 2000-01 and last year, when it started 11-1.
