PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Darren Cooper scored 25 points and Pooh Jeter added 20 as Portland beat Oregon State 76-62 on Saturday.
The Pilots (4-5) outscored the Beavers 17-3 in the final 4:17 to register their fourth win in eight tries against their in-state rivals.
Oregon State led 47-41 with 10:48 left in the second half after Angelo Tsagarakis scored four straight points. But the Pilots answered with an 11-4 run, which included seven points by Cooper, to take their first lead of the second half at 52-51.
The Beavers took the lead at 57-54 but trailed after that.
Portland then took over thanks to a string of eight points by Jeter. His three-pointer with 2:56 left, which gave the Pilots a 67-59 lead, seemed to take the air out of Oregon State.
The Beavers (2-3) scored only three points the rest of the way.
The Pilots hit 9 of 18 three-pointers, including a 4-for-7 effort by Cooper and a 3-for-6 night by Jeter.
The Beavers, who were led by Jason Fontenet with 12 points, made only 32 percent of their shots. Portland also was helped by a 42-29 advantage in rebounding. Coming into the game, the Pilots had been out-rebounded by an average of six boards per game.
