Rudy Carpenter and Keegan Herring Earn Freshman All-American Honorable Mentions

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University redshirt freshman quarterback Rudy Carpenter and true freshman running back Keegan Herring have been named Honorable Mention Freshman All-Americans by The Sporting News, the magazine announced today.

Carpenter, from Westlake, Calif., saw action in eight games, including four starts. He has thrown for 1,806 yards and 13 touchdowns while leading his team to a 3-1 mark as a starter.

Herring, from Phoenix, set the ASU freshman record with his 791 yards. He is averaging 5.7 yards a carry and has found the end zone six times this season.

The Sun Devils will take on the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers in the Insight Bowl, December 27th at Chase Field in Phoenix. The game will be shown to a national television audience on ESPN. Kickoff is set for 6:30 pm.
