Lincecum Earns Preseason All-America Second Team
Dec. 13, 2005
SEATTLE - Junior Tim Lincecum, a starting pitcher on the Washington baseball team, has been named a preseason second-team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assocation, the NWBCA announced today.
Lincecum, from Liberty High in Renton, Wash., is a two-time All-Pac-10 first-team selection and was the Pac-10 Pitcher and Freshman of the Year in 2004. Last season, he posted an 8-6 record and 3.11 earned run average, allowing only 62 hits and striking out 131 in 104.1 innings.
Lincecum enters his junior season only 11 strikeouts shy of the school record. With 292 career strikeouts, he trails only Jeff Heaverlo on the Husky career list. Heaverlo struck out 303 during his three-year career (1997-99).
The Huskies, who return to the practice field in January, open the 2006 season Feb. 10 at New Mexico State.
