BOULDER - The University of Colorado football team held its third practice on Sunday afternoon in preparation for the Clemson Tigers who will face the Buffs in the Champ Sports Bowl on Dec. 27.
"We had good intensity and enthusiasm out there," Interim Head Coach Mike Hankwitz said. "We have been working harder every day."
Hankwitz admitted there was a bit of rust the team had to work off after a 12-day break for finals. The Buffs practiced Friday and Saturday as well, with frigid temperatures nearing the lower teens.
"We are laying a good foundation for our preparation here," Hankwitz said. "When we get down (to Orlando) the good weather will allow us to get most of our work done. By no means is it a waste practicing here though?I think it reached 20 (degrees) today."
The team will leave Dec. 21 for Orlando, and practices will be held each day at McCracken Field, part of the Citrus Bowl complex. Kickoff for the Dec. 27 game will be 3:00 MST and will be broadcast on ESPN National with Ron Franklin (play-by-play), Bob Davie (analyst) and Holly Rowe (sideline reporter) calling the action.
