UCLA Midfielder Sal Zizzo Named to 2005 <i>Soccer America</i> All-Freshman Team

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Soccer America has selected UCLA midfielder Sal Zizzo to the magazine's All-Freshman Second-Team. The Pac-10 Freshman of the Year played in all 20 of UCLA's games and started in 16 as the Bruins earned their fourth straight Conference crown. Zizzo (San Diego, Calif.) scored one goal and dished out five assists during the season, ranking second on his team in assists and fifth in points scored with seven.

Zizzo earned Pac-10 Player of the Week honors on Sept. 6, after scoring a goal and two assists in his first collegiate start in the Bruins' 4-0 upest win over then-No. 2 Maryland. He has also garnered several other postseason accolades, after being named to the College Soccer News All-Freshman First Team and to the Top Drawer Soccer All-Rookie Team. Zizzo was also selected to the 2005 Pac-10 second team.
