The No. 7 UCLA Bruins and No. 14 Purdue Boilermakers combined teams for a unique dual meet on Thursday afternoon with the 'Black' team defeating the 'Blue' team 129.50-115.50. The meet was decided after a final 650y Relay (each swimmer swam 25-yards) in which the black team won.

Both UCLA and Purdue had athletes competing in events other then their specialties.

On the afternoon, UCLA swimmers won five events as senior Kim Vandenberg recorded multiple event wins (100 Free, 51.75 and 200 Free, 1:50.94). Also recording wins were junior Jeana Fuccillo (200 Back, 2:06.90), sophomore Nicolette Teo (200 Breast, 2:19.72) and junior Jane Imagane (500 Free, 4:57.49).

Senior Liz Keating swam a season best 10:03.03 in the 1000 Free to place second, while Vandenberg posted a season best 24.04 in the 50 Free to also finish second, and sophomore Chiemi Yamamoto placed second in the 500 Free with a season-best 4:59.10.

The swim team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 as they host Pacific and former Assistant Coach Greg Meehan, who left to take over the Tiger program this past summer. The meet begins at 11:00 am and will feature solely swimming events.

The Bruin divers will return to competition January 13-14 when they head to Bloomington, IN for the Indiana University Invitational.
