Freshmen Rodriguez and Holmes Named SoccerTimes All-Americans
Jan. 5, 2006
USC freshmen Amy Rodriguez and Meagan Holmes picked up another postseason accolade this week as recipients of All-America honors from Soccer Times. Forward Rodriguez and defender Holmes stepped right in as dominating starters for the USC women's soccer team in their first season as Women of Troy. Rodriguez led USC with nine goals and 25 points on the year, and Holmes helped anchor USC's tough defensive back line, which powered the Trojans to 12 shutouts in 2005. USC reached the NCAA Second Round and finished 13-6-2 overall.
Rodriguez has been named to SoccerTimes' All-America Third Team, and Holmes received SoccerTimes All-America Honorable Mention. It is the first such national honor for Holmes, who joined Rodriguez on SoccerBuzz's Freshman All-America team. while Rodriguez also was named an All-American by NSCAA/adidas and SoccerBuzz to become the first Trojan since 2000 to receive those honors.
