USC Downs Arizona 76-60

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- The USC women's basketball team dominated the boards on Sunday against visiting Arizona to post a 76-60 win over the Wildcats in Pac-10 action. Senior Meghan Gnekow grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds for the Women of Troy, who outrebounded their opponents 43-25, including 20 offensive boards. USC improves to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in Pac-10 play, while Arizona moves to 5-10, 1-4.
USC worked its way out to a 12-point lead in the early goings of the game, but Arizona mounted a 7-0 run to cut into the Trojan advantage and trail just 30-27 at halftime.
In the second half, the Wildcats tied it up twice and then took its first lead of the game at 41-39 on a jumper from Che Oh. That would be the only glimpse of an advantage that Arizona would have, however, as Eshaya Murphy nailed a 3-pointer and then finished off a layup to propel the Women of Troy back ahead for good. Murphy finished with a game-high 20 points to make it nine straight double-digit performances for the junior guard. She also dished out a career-high five assists in the win. Gnekow also tallied a career high in assist with a game-high six.
Freshman center Nadia Parker hit double figures for the first time in her career with a career-high 10 points, and junior forward Allison Jaskowiak finished just two points off her career best with 10 points to finish as USC's third double-digit scorer of the day. Jaskowiak also tied her career best on the boards with seven rebounds.
Arizona also had three players finish in double figures led by Joy Hollingsworth's 14 points. Ashley Whisonant scored 12, and Natalie Jones had 10 for the Wildcats.
USC next hits the road to play at Washington State at 7 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 12) and then at Washington at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 14).
