Washington Defeats UCLA, 96-75

Seattle, Wash. - UCLA received season-high efforts from Nikki Blue (24 points) and Lindsey Pluimer (19 points), but it wasn't enough to defeat No. 25 (ESPN/USA Today) Washington, who ran off to a 96-75 victory. The Huskies were led by Cameo Hicks' 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bruins started out the game neck-and-neck with the Huskies, leading 14-13 at the 13:44 mark after a Pluimer layup. Washington regained the lead and extended it to eight, 26-18, with 8:35 to play, before a 6-0 Bruin run trimmed the lead to two, 26-24, with 6:29 remaining in the half. Sharp three-point shooting by the Huskies, however, enabled them to take a seven-point lead into halftime, 40-33.
After the Bruins pulled to within four early in the second half, 42-38, the Huskies reeled off a 20-2 run to move ahead 62-40 with 13:38 remaining. UCLA never got closer than 16 after that.
Blue led all players with 24 points and also had six assists. In addition to scoring 19 points, Pluimer tied with Chinyere Ibekwe for team-best honors in rebounding with seven. Lisa Willis was the only other Bruin in double figures with 11.
Four other Huskies joined Hicks in double-figure scoring - Dominique Banks with 16, Kristen O'Neill off the bench with 14, Emily Florence with 11 and Breanne Watson with 10.
The Huskies (12-3, 5-1 in the Pac-10) outshot the Bruins (9-7, 4-3), 47%-38%, and won the battle of the boards, 49-33.
UCLA will next face Washington State on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1 pm in Pullman.
