WSU Falls To USC 81-60

PULLMAN, Wash. - Amanda DuRocher led Washington State with 13 points and Kate Benz added 10 in the Cougars' 81-60 loss to the USC Women of Troy in Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball action, Thursday at Beasley Coliseum.
The loss dropped WSU to 6-9 overall and 0-6 in the Pac-10. USC improved to 11-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
Eshaya Murphy led a trio of USC players in double figures with a game-high 18 points. Jamie Hagiya (16 points) and Chloe Kerr (14 points) completed the contingent. Murphy recorded a double-double as the junior also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
WSU converted a season-high 11 three-pointers in the game en route to shooting 55 percent from beyond the arc. However, USC also made 11 treys, which was part of its 29 field goals in the game.
WSU was within 16-15 at the 11:21 mark of the first half but USC broke the game open with a 16-2 run to open a 32-17 lead with 4:41 remaining in the opening 20 minutes. USC's lead would not fall below double figures the rest of the way.
WSU returns to action hosting UCLA, Saturday, Jan. 14 for a 1 p.m. tip at Beasley Coliseum.
