Dehaine Defeats Nation's No. 1 Player at Sherwood

UCLA men's tennis player Mathieu Dehaine picked up the biggest victory of his college career Saturday, upsetting top-seeded and No. 1 ranked Lars Poerschke of Baylor in the quarterfinals of the Sherwood Collegiate Cup in Thousand Oaks.

Dehaine defeated Poerschke in three sets, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-1. He will meet another Baylor player, Matija Zgaga, in Sunday's semifinals.

Chris Surapol and Jeremy Drean dropped quarterfinal matches on Saturday. Surapol was defeated by Stanford's Matt Bruch, while Drean lost to Zgaga.

Doubles play was postponed due to rain.

At the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Palm Springs, Calif., Bruin junior Benjamin Kohlloeffel advanced to the finals with a victory over Virginia's Marko Miklo. Philipp Gruendler and Michael Look dropped matches Saturday.
