Troy Dominates In Final Non-Conference Meet

Senior Blythe Hartley, junior Kalyn Keller, sophomore Rhi Jeffrey and freshmen Rachael Waller and Missy McIntyre all won two races apiece to lead the No. 11 USC women's swimming and diving team to a win over Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday (Jan. 14) at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.
USC, in its final non-conference dual-meet action of the season, improved to 3-2 overall with its 196-45 victory.
Keller won both the 200y fly (2:04.64) and the 200y back (2:06.04). Jeffrey won the 1000y free (10:08.91) and the 100y free (52.32). In fact, while USC's distance freestylers took a break, sprinter Jeffrey and freshmen breaststrokers Rebecca Soni (10:13.28) and Katy Houston (10:27.65) took second and third, respectively.
Hartley won the 1-meter springboard and the platform.
Waller won the 50y free (24.37) and the 500y free (5:00.68) while McIntyre won the 200y IM (2:06.36) and the 200y breast (2:16.00).
USC's other winner in its final tune-up before resuming conference competition included sophomore Emily Goetsch in the 200y free (1:56.09).
Troy next hosts Pac-10 rivals California (Jan. 27) and Stanford (Jan. 28). Both meets begin at 1 p.m.
