Baseball Picked To Finish Third In Preseason Pac-10 Coaches Poll

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State University baseball team has been picked in a tie for third place in a vote of the league's coaches for the annual Pac-10 Conference Baseball Coaches Preseason Poll. Oregon State, who won the Pac-10 last season, is picked to repeat as conference champions.

The Beavers received seven first place votes and 62 overall points. USC was picked second, with one first place vote and 51 total points. ASU and Stanford both were picked third with 46 points, although the Cardinal, who were picked to win last season, did pick up a first place vote.

Arizona State and Oregon State both advanced to the College World Series last year, and this year the Beavers are ranked third by Collegiate Baseball, while the Sun Devils are 12th. In addition to ASU and OSU, Arizona, USC and Stanford advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season.

The Sun Devils begin the 2006 season with a three-game series against Cal State Northridge beginning January 27th at Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. For more information, log on to
