The Huskies (13-4 overall, 6-2 Pac-10) used stifling defense to put the Beavers (7-8 overall, 1-6 Pac-10) away early, holding Oregon State to just 15 points in the opening frame and in turn shooting 53.3 percent from the field in the first half. Hicks scored 12 of her 14 points before halftime, including six-straight during an 11-0 Husky run that gave UW a 10-point lead (16-6) in the first eight minutes.

Washington built as much as a 26 point-lead courtesy of a 22-2 run and led by 24, 39-15, at the intermission. Sophomore point guard Emily Florence sparked the defense, grabbing three of her four steals while making five of her seven assists in the first half.

The Beavers weren't about to go down too easily, outscoring Washington 38-31 in the second-half but it wasn't enough to overcome their first-half hole. OSU climbed within 14 points but a three-pointer from UW's Cheri Craddock with 34.9 seconds put the Huskies ahead by 17, 70-53, which stood as the final score.

The Huskies' 48.3 field goal shooting percentage (29-for-60) for the game was a season high.

OSU's Tiffany Ducker led all Beaver players with 16 points, 10 of which came in the second half. Anita Rivera and Kim Butler each added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Casey Nash came off the bench to lead the Beavers with eight rebounds.

Sophomore guard Dominique Banks led the Huskies on the glass with a team-high eight rebounds including five on the offensive end. Plouffe's career-night came on 7-for-11 shooting and a 5-for-5 clip from the free-throw line. For Hicks, it was her 13th double-figure scoring game in 17 games. Craddock scored a season-high eight points in nine minutes off the bench.

Washington will remain in the Willamette Valley to take on Northwest rival Oregon, Saturday, Jan. 21, at McArthur Court in Eugene at 7 p.m. PT. The Huskies are one win away from equaling their win total from all of last year (14).
