Matt Haryasz Tabbed Pac-10 Player Of The Week

Stanford forward/center Matt Haryasz has beennamed the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player ofthe Week for January 16 - 22, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Haryasz, who hails from Page, Ariz., averaged 26.0 points and 2.5blocks last weekend in his homecoming at the Arizona schools. OnThursday, Haryasz scored 25 points, shooting 8-of-15 (.533) from thefield, including 9-of-10 from the free throw line, in the Cardinal's90-81 overtime loss at Arizona. He also posted seven rebounds, threeblocks, two assists and two steals in Tucson.

On Saturday, Haryasz collected his seventh double-double of theseason, as Stanford picked up its first win on the road at ArizonaState. He posted a career-high 27 points, shooting 9-of-15 (.600)from the field, and a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe, andadded 10 boards in the 70-64 win. The senior also made his 100thblock against the Sun Devils, becoming only the fourth player inschool history to record 100 blocks in a career. His mark ranksfourth on the Farm's all-time list, passing former Cardinal standoutJosh Childress' 95 career blocks.

This season, Haryasz is averaging a team-leading 18.4 points, 9.0rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Stanford (8-7 overall, 4-3 Pac-10) will host the Washington schoolsthis weekend, facing the Cougars on Thurs., Jan. 26 and the No. 10Huskies on Sun., Jan. 29.

This is the first weekly honor for Haryasz and Stanford's 36th Playerof the Week all-time.
