USC's 2006 Football Opener at Arkansas Moved to Sept. 2

Jan. 24, 2006

LOS ANGELES- The date of the USC football team's 2006 opener at Arkansas has been moved to Sept. 2 and the game will be shown live nationally on ESPN. Kickoff time of the game, which was originally set to be played on Sept. 9, is pending.

USC also added season-opening home games against Idaho in 2007 on Sept. 1 and against San Jose State in 2009 on Sept. 5.

The Trojans defeated Arkansas, 70-17, last season. This will be USC's first game ever in Fayetteville, Ark., as Troy's previous road contests against the Razorbacks in 1972 and 1974 were played in Little Rock.

USC holds a 7-0 series edge over Idaho, but last played the Vandals in 1929. Idaho is coached by former USC assistant Nick Holt.

The Trojans are 3-0 against San Jose State, having faced the Spartans in the Coliseum in 1995, 2000 and 2001. USC, which has won 45 of its last 47 games, has played in BCS bowls and captured Pac-10 titles in each of the past 4 seasons while winning national titles in 2003 and 2004. The Trojans went 12-1 in 2005, losing by 3 points to Texas in the BCS Championship Game in the Rose Bowl.
