California Track and Field Team Wraps Up UW Indoor Invite

BERKELEY - The California track and field team wrapped up their meet in Seattle on Saturday, with a successful run in multi-events and distance.

Freshman sensation Inika McPherson recorded a 1.76m (5-09.25) in the high jump. She placed second in the event. Another freshman, Francesca Weems placed seventh in the 400m (58.41). The native of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, also finished the 200m in eight (25.62).

In the pentathlon, redshirt freshman Artensia Young finished fourth with 3,606 points. In sixth place, freshman Tifani Grimes collected 3,559 points.

Making her first appearance in the indoor competition, senior Bridget Duffy placed 11th in the mile run with a final time of 4:50.75. Senior Lindsay Maclise fell two spots below Duffy in 13th (4:52.75). In the 800m, freshman Mackenizie Pierce posted a 2:10.64, placing her in seventh.

On the men's side, senior Kevin Davis (4:07.39) and sophomore Andy McClary (4:10.03) finished 14th and 17th, respectively in the mile run. In the men's high jump sophomore Ed Wright recorded a 2.10m (6-10.75).

In the men's heptathlon, sophomore Steven Conrad and junior Jonas Hallgrimsson finished fifth and sixth respectively. Conrad recorded 5,180 points, while Hallgrimsson finished with 4,937 points.

California will return to action on Feb. 10-11 as they travel to both the Iowa State Classic and the Husky Classic. In addition, the Bears will host an all-comers meet on Sat., Feb. 4.
