Men's Golf to Compete at the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate

Tempe, Ariz. - The Arizona State men's golf team resumes the 2005-2006 golf season with an appearance in the 2006 PING-Arizona Intercollegiate, Jan.30-31, at the par 71, 6,900-yard Arizona National Golf Club.
Sun Devil Senior Alejandro Canizares won the tournament last year after carding an eleven under-par 202.
The PING-Arizona Intercollegiate is a 54-hole event with 36 holes played continuously on Monday and 18 holes played on Tuesday. Both rounds start at 8 a.m. MST.
The field for the tournament, which is hosted by the University of Arizona, includes: Arizona, Arizona State, Brigham Young, California, UC-Irvine, Denver, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas-El Paso, and Tulsa.
The PING-Arizona Intercollegiate kicks off the spring season for the men's golf team. ASU placed in the top five in two of the four tournaments of the 2005 fall campaign.
The Sun Devils are currently ranked nine and ten in the nation according to the GCAA/Bridgestone and Golf Week polls respectively.
