Trojans Shoot Down Ducks 84-78

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Gabe Pruitt scored 30 points to lead USC past Oregon 84-78 Saturday at McArthur Court.

Pruitt made 8-of-12 shots from the field and was 6-of-8 from the 3-point line and 8 of 12 from the free-throw line.

Four other players scored in double figures for the Trojans (14-6 overall, 5-4 Pac-10). Nick Young had 16 points, Lodrick Stewart scored 14, Ryan Francis 11 and N'diaye Abdoulaye 10.

Southern Cal shot 53 percent from the field and made 10 3-pointers.

Reserve guards Chamberlain Oguchi and Bryce Taylor led the Ducks (10-11, 4-5) with 25 and 18 points, respectively. It was a career-high for Oguchi, who made 6-of-9 3-pointers and 8-of-11 shots overall. Taylor made seven of his 11 field-goal attempts.

Led by Pruitt's 15 points and three 3-pointers, the Trojans went into halftime up 39-32 and shooting 64 percent from the field.

Down 25-24, Pruitt hit two free throws at the 5:20 mark to put the Trojans up 26-25, then followed with back-to-back 3-pointers as USC went on a 12-3 run to take a 38-28 lead with 1:06 left in the half.

The Trojans went up 55-45 at the 11:31 mark of the second half on free throws by Lodrick Stewart, but the Ducks responded with a 19-8 run to take their first lead of the second half, 64-63, with 6:24 to play. Taylor and Oguchi each hit a pair of 3-pointers during that run.

Southern Cal quickly tied it back up on a free throw by Abdoulaye, and a dunk by Nick Young at the 5:37 mark put the Trojans back up for good, 66-64.

The Ducks were hampered in the final minutes after losing starting point guard Aaron Brooks and his primary backup, Brandon Lincoln to fouls with under four minutes to play.
