Canizares Ties for First Place at PING-Arizona Intercollegiate

After play was suspended yesterday due to darkness, the Arizona State men's golf team finished the final two rounds to finish the PING-Arizona Intercollegiate tied for second place with Arizona after shooting a nine-over 843 (273, 278, 292).
Sun Devil Alejandro Canizares tied for first place in the tournament, however lost in the sudden death shoot out to Arizona's Henry Liaw, who received individual medalist honors. Canizares shot a nine-under 204 (67, 66, 71).
Freshman Benjamin Alvarado shot an even-par 213 (70, 71, and 72) to tie for 16th. Niklas Lemke tied for 26th after shooting a three-over 216 (69, 76, 71). Lenny Park shot a 217 (71, 68, 78) to tie for 32nd at four-over. Charly Simon tied for 35th after shooting a five-over 218 (67, 73, 78).
Fredrik Andersson, Steele Dewalt and Ryan Kelley all played as independents. Andersson shot a two-over 215 to tie for 21st. Dewalt shot a 17-over 230 to place 72nd and Kelley shot a 28-over 241 to place 84th.
Next up for ASU, the men's golf team is traveling to Kona, Hawaii for the Big Island Invitational Feb. 8-10.
